Though no one wants to experience loss or tragedy, it can be during these difficult times that miracles occur to restore our faith.
The recent earthquakes in Italy have been tragic on quite a large scale. But one small story of hope and perseverance has helped to shed a little bit of light during an otherwise dark time.
Daniela Tursini is a resident of the village of Armatrice, Italy. During last week's events, Tursini was inside her home when the earthquakes began.
Fortunately, she was able to make it out of her home safely. However, her poor cat Gioia was unable to escape.
Though days began to pass, Tursini did not give up hope on finding little Gioia. And then? A miracle.
After almost six full days, rescue workers discovered Gioia in the rubble — and she was alive.
Even in the face of tragedy, this pet owner didn't give up hope. And though she may have lost her home and her possessions, this beautiful and unexpected rescue gave Tursini and Gioia a second chance at life together.

As most people know, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the residents of Italy last week with quite tragic results.
But amidst all of the sadness, one miraculous story stands out as a beacon of hope.

Daniela Tursini was forced to flee her home during the earthquakes, but her cat, Gioia, had run to hide, trapping her among the falling rubble.
However, despite the grim outlook, Tursini knew deep down that Gioia was okay.

With each passing day, the likelihood of finding Gioia diminished.
Yet, as if by miracle, rescue workers pulled Gioia from the rubble almost six days after the initial quake.

No one could quite explain how the cat had been able to survive until rescuers discovered her.
And perhaps the most miraculous part? Gioia was in fairly good health, though she was in desperate need of water.

Gioia was checked out by vets, treated, and reunited with Tursini.
This pet owner had refused to give up hope, even when she had lost everything else.

Thanks to her persistence and the dedication of the rescue workers, Gioia and Tursini now have a second chance to share their lives with one another.
