Is man behind the terrifying disappearances of his best friend in one North Texas county?
Police and residents are fearing the worst after dozens of dogs have gone missing from Wise County in only the past two months. Since November, more than 40 dogs have been kidnapped, and police don't have any idea who is behind the disappearances and what's happening to these dogs.
Residents like Robin Lewis of Decatur, TX have been left heartbroken and terrified. Lewis told WFAA that she was horrified when her black Lab, Jack, went missing the same December day that Decatur Mayor Martin Woodruff's two dogs were stolen from his yard.
"This is not normal, and it feels like something is wrong," Lewis told WFAA. "It leads you to believe someone has taken our dogs."
Although investigators don't have any suspects or leads, some residents fear the innocent animals are being sold into dogfighting rings.
"It’s possible,” Sheriff David Walker told WFAA. Meanwhile, families are left praying their pets are in good hands.
