Kendra Carpenter knows what its like to battle cancer. Eleven years ago she spent countless hours in the hospital, feeling horrible, feeling lonely and the one thing that made her smile was thinking of her dog Murphy. She couldn't wait to get home and be with her best friend. Long hospital stays were difficult for Kendra and the one thing that made her feel better was when he was able to get rare hospital approval to allow Murphy to visit his mom.
After beating cancer Kendra knew she had to give back and help young children who were fighting the same horrific disease and she knew exactly how to help ease their pain: Murphy.
Kendra, who is a lawyer, along with her pal Murphy, now a certified therapy dog, travel monthly to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio to visit with sick children. The experience Murphy gives the children is magical and even if they choose not to pet the sweet prince, he is able to take their mind off their pain even for a few minutes.
