Kitten Sneaks Into House, Then Makes Himself At Home And Waits For Man To Return From Work

Some animal lovers call themselves dog people. Others insist they're strictly cat people.

Whatever the case, the decision to get either a dog or a cat is one the pet owner makes consciously. But in one man's case, getting a cat is something that just sort of happened to him — but he's not complaining now!

In a photo story posted on Imgur that quickly went viral, a man named Nigel documented coming home from a long day of work only to find a cat waiting for him on a chair. The only problem? Nigel doesn't own a cat! Well, didn't!

The tabby feline, who appears to be kitten-aged (or just kitten-sized), was innocently lounging the day away when the homeowner came home. The cat didn't seem the least bit concerned about how this stranger, Nigel, would react when he saw him. In fact, this story has a happy and unexpected ending.

Along with his eight-photo post, Nigel wrote:

This little floof [was] just chillin’ in my house.

He must have come in through an open window, I don't own a cat.

He had no collar and was meowing like crazy. I decided he must be hungry so I ran to the store and got some kitty food and other supplies.

Lil gato was so happy! He was meowing/purring as he ate.

I left for a bit to canvas the neighborhood.

None of my neighbors have any cats. Huh….

The next day I took him to the vet.

He doesn't have a chip, but he did have worms and fleas. Got him his shots and some meds.

Sorry for the selfie.

Gato immediately took to his new surroundings and sits on or around me whenever he needs a break from tearing around my place like a demon cat.

Throughout the next week I talked to all of my surrounding neighbors.

Nobody had any momma cats or kittens missing.

I named him Buddy and he seems to love his new place.

My Buddy boy.  He adopted me.

The San Diego man told Love Meow that he'd been running late for work the day Buddy arrived, and had accidentally left a window open. That's probably how Buddy made his way in. Now, he's here to stay.

Based on how this story ended, it seems Nigel's mistake was all for the best!
