Therapy animals have had proven results for their impact on rehabilitation and support for special needs patients. Their services have been used for everything from PTSD and behavioral therapy to physical therapy for patients with unique treatment requirements.
Nonprofit Our Better World connects communities with these stories of strength through patients' connections with animals. The story below is a special one of triumph for patients who, despite their terminal illnesses, are brought infinite joy through their connection with therapy dogs. "Our mission at Our Better World is to inspire people into action via these stories of good," writes Eelin Ong, a spokesperson for Our Better World. "With this story, we hope to spread some love and raise the awareness of volunteering at a hospice with pets."
One of the two special dogs, a black Labrador named Tuxedo, has had a profound effect on patients in a hospital in Singapore. "Tuxedo, there's something about him that's just able to draw the person out," says his owner Bernard Yeo, adding that the patient even invited Tuxedo into his bed to lay with him. "It's like Disneyland magic," he says of watching Tuxedo with patients, adding, "I wish I had that!" Watch this incredible moment in the video below.
