They Said This Pit Would Never Be Normal Again. But Now? Incredible!

Girlie Girl is an unadopted pit bull that the Faulkner County Humane Society in Arkansas calls a "Miracle Dog."

Girlie Girl was found on the side of the road in a ditch after being hit by a car. She was in severe pain and completely paralyzed. Animal rescue workers were able to save Girlie Girl's life, but her legs were in rough shape and her quality of life was very poor.

Her current foster parent, J.R. Wiley, told local news station KARK 4, "Honestly, we talked about euthanasia, but I do not accept that. It's the last resort."

No one gave up on Girlie Girl, and she especially didn't give up on herself.  Her story is one of commitment, determination, and compassionate humans willing to take take time to help a less-fortunate animal. If only every animal story could have a happy ending like this one.

After you've read about her story and you've seen the news report below, remember to SHARE this story if you know anyone who might be able to give Girlie Girl a forever home. Her adoption fee is $150, and it can be arranged by emailing rescuethestrays@yahoo.com.

It was unclear if Girlie Girl would ever be able to walk again. It took months and months of physical therapy and hard work, but eventually she was able to bring herself up.

It was a miraculous recovery, but still not perfect. One of Girlie Girl's hind legs was still limp and would roll over when she walked.

The Humane Society trying to find Girlie Girl a home decided to make a YouTube video about the pooch to raise awareness of her dilemma. It went viral in their small community and thousands of people asked what they could do.

These concerned humanitarians reached out to Snell Prosthetic and Orthotic Laboratory to see if they could build something that would help Girlie Girl walk.

Josh Ketelsen, with Snell, built a cast for Girlie Girl free of charge. This special brace keeps her foot in place so it can continue to heal. Ketelsen continues to visit Girlie Girl and says she showers him with kisses every time they see each other.
