Sgt. Canvas is a combat dog veteran who has served honorably on multiple tours. She was trained to be able to detect the smells of up to 70 different kinds of bombs, explosives, and any other possible IEDs.
Sgt. Canvas and her human, Cpl. Moseley, were an incredible team that served on multiple missions together. While Sgt. Canvas is highly skilled and very well-trained, all it took was one moment for Moseley to step on a bomb before he lost his leg in the blast.
Moseley was sent back to the States with a Purple Heart and the full honors of a combat war veteran. After a few years together, however, Sgt. Canvas suddenly had severe spinal issues. Unfortunately, she was in a horrific amount of pain and the incredibly difficult decision was made to put this hero to sleep.
While the decision was a hard one, her human decided to take her on one last patrol, and with the assistance of the amazing men and women of the Patriot Guard, this dog's last day on Earth will never be forgotten by the country who owes her so much.
