When Rolo, a rescued pit bull, met a horse while on a walk around New York City, a kind of mesmerizing magic happened.
Owner Kylie Edmond aimed her camera at the two animals and began filming. Within seconds, the pit bull could barely contain his excitement about meeting the horse. With his tail wagging, Rolo jumped up to kiss his new pal a kiss on the lips. Aww! But it didn't stop there. The loving pit bull even jumped up to give the horse named Cowboy a little more love and even went in for a sweet hug.
The 7-month-old pit bull may look fierce, but he's really just a baby at heart with a hugely exuberant approach to life. (Could this pup and horse have been the inspiration behind Budweiser’s infamous Super Bowl commercial?!)
"He would often see the horses with their carriages on the street and was always enamored by them, but we never got close. Well, this day Cowboy was right there in our path, and Rolo was so very excited. I knew he badly wanted to say hello, but wasn’t sure if Cowboy would be OK with it! Turns out Cowboy was super chilled out and happy to say hi," Edmond, co-founder of Rock & Rawhide, told LittleThings, about the video, which was filmed back in 2012.
"Rolo is one of those dogs who thinks everyone and everything is his BFF," she added.
Pit bulls are one of the most misunderstood dog breeds in the world. Although they have a reputation for being vicious and mean, pit bulls can make very sweet and loyal family dogs when raised properly in a loving home — and this video proves it!
Rolo was a rescue from Animal Care & Control of New York City and is now the happiest dog on Earth thanks to his new forever family. He is one of two doggie mascots for the non-profit Rock & Rawhide, that collects toys, treats, blankets, food, and all sorts of goodies to be put into animal shelters to help increase adoptions. (In just over three years, the organization has delivered over $1 million in goodies to shelters!)
"A relaxed pet that is playing with a toy, chewing on a bone, or snuggling into a blanket, is a less stressed animal that has a higher chance of passing shelter evaluations and being adopted. It gives them a chance to show their true personality," Edmond said.
