Police dogs — otherwise known as K-9 units — are incredibly brave, fierce, and intelligent members of the police force. Like any other dogs, though, these crime-fighting creatures were once puppies… adorable, adorable puppies! This sweet video shows what some police dogs were like before they were the proud members of the police force that we see now.
These German shepherd puppies and their fully trained “senior officer” were trying out new stab-resistant vests that are meant to protect them when they are in the line of duty. The older dog even shows off his skills jumping through hoops and over hurdles. Though the little pups will someday be able to run similar drills, right now they seem more interested in playing with one another than completing any serious police work!
As adorable as they are, police dogs are such an important part of the police force. These K-9 crime fighters are highly trained and incredibly loyal to their human partners, and they assist in a number of police tasks. K-9 units have tasks that include sniffing for explosives, search and rescue, sniffing for evidence, and protecting human officers. As hard as it is to imagine, these little fluff balls will grow up to be essential members of the police force!
