This beautiful pit bull named Mary was going to be euthanized at a high kill shelter, even though at the time, she was pregnant!
Thankfully, a day before the shelter planned to put her and her babies down, Mary was rescued by her foster parents Aaron Colby and his fiancee Laura, who managed to collect $1,000 in donations so that they could pay for her fee and get her the heck out of Dodge before it was too late.
Not longer after, Mary gave birth to her lovely litter of nine babies after being in labor for a whopping 16 hours. Congrats, mama!
Please SHARE Mary and her babies' amazing story of a second chance at life with everyone you love!
1. "My fiancee saved her from shelter that was a day away from putting her down, puppies and all," Aaron Colby told dogheirs.com.

2. Mary was quite emaciated at the time of her rescue, so her new foster parents made sure to keep a food dish around her at all times.

3. Mary moaned and groaned for two days after her rescue before she gave birth, but had her first puppy in her new parents' home without any incident!

4. "She was more than ready to give birth but she waited as long as she could so as to avoid having them in a scary kennel," Aaron said.

5. Unfortunately, because she was in labor for so long, three of Mary's puppies were stillborn, but another unresponsive pup was successfully revived with the help of Laura.

6. Like a pro, Mary tore the placenta sack off her newborn babies and licked them vigorously until they started breathing.

7. Mary came from a puppy mill, where dogs are bred in heinous conditions. This was not her first time as a mom, as her nipples were calloused and scarred from a previous birth that did have proper supervision.

8. Thankfully, Mary was able to give birth to her second litter in a safe and loving environment.

9. One of Mary's babies always seemed to be on top of her!

10. Proud mama Mary was excited whenever anyone came to see her babies.

11. Aaron proved to be an equally proud and loving foster daddy.

12. Thanks to Aaron, Laura, and the wonderful donations that poured in from across the country, Mary's puppies are able to enjoy life!

13. The babies grew big fast, doubling in size in just two weeks.

I4. If only every pittie mama could be so lucky.

15. All of Mary's puppies appeared to be purebred American Pit Bull Terriers.

16. And all were were adopted by loving families in the Los Angeles area!
