Police Officer And His K-9 Help Find Missing 2-Year-Old Boy

Michigan residents Joe and Misty Johnson were panicked when their 2-year-old son Preston went missing.

“He was behind the house running after my cat and he just disappeared. Not even two minutes,” Mrs. Johnson told WOOD TV8. “I was just terrified. I didn’t know what kind of emotion to show.”

The couple called for help after realizing that Preston wasn’t anywhere in sight. As many as seven police officers and their K-9s showed up to find the missing child who at that point could have been anywhere.

Like the boy who was found by a reporter after going missing in Florida and the lost child saved by a pit bull, this story also has a happy ending.

The search lasted seven hours until Sheriff Deputy Ben Haas and his K-9 Medo saved the day. After some sniffing around, Medo helped find Preston in a field a quarter of a mile away from his home playing in the mud.

“When I saw him just sitting up and he was looking at me and smiling, there wasn’t a better moment in my career,” Haas said.

Aside from being exposed to poison ivy and getting some scratches, Preston is doing well his mother said.
