Five months ago, on a November day, Pumpkin the dog was stolen.
Taken right from their backyard, the Ornelas family claimed it was because the 7-year-old Pumpkin was a rare breed — a Lhasa apso — which would command big bucks on the black market.
They looked everywhere for Pumpkin, but eventually felt they had lost him forever.
"I've had dreams that I've found him, but I didn't think he would actually come back," Alexandra Ornelas said in the video below.
Then, after nearly giving up hope, the received a stunning phone call.
The call came from Annette Hatt, a woman from Canton, Georgia.
She had found Pumpkin! After she took him in for a microchip scan, it was revealed that the dog's home was in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The pup had somehow gone nearly 1400 miles away from home.
Ruff Redemption Rescue, a dog-rescue group from Georgia, helped get Pumpkin on a free flight home. In the video below, you will see his reunion with his family at long last!
"It's hard to think about what he's been through," Manny Ornelas said.
Their reunion was made all the more special because Pumpkin was able to meet the Ornelas' new baby, who had been born while the pup was still missing.
Thankfully, the pup was found unharmed, and quickly went to introduce himself to the baby!
Check out their reunion in the video below, and please it on Facebook!
