Deanna Jarvis is known as the "puppy expert" at Noah's Hope Animal Rescue. She's seen some unbelievably heart-wrenching cases over the years, but last Christmas Eve a puppy came into her life that she will never, ever forget.
Weighing only one pound and suffering from a broken, infected jaw and hypothermia, things were not looking good for the tiny angel Jarvis named Nicolas. Jarvis knew the pup needed a true Christmas miracle to survive and when a veterinarian opened his doors to Nicolas and Jarvis on Christmas Day, she knew what she had to do.
Jarvis welcomed the baby German Shepherd-Chow mix into her home and heart. With help from her son, Marcus, Jarvis carefully fed Nicolas with a syringe for weeks, while his tiny jaw healed.
When Jarvis posted the pup's story on the Noah's Hope Facebook page, Tom and Bea Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa jumped at the chance to adopt him, but under one condition. "I promised Deanna that if we adopted him, we would regularly bring him to see her,” Tom explained. Now, one year later, Nicolas still remembers the woman who saved him from death.
According to his new family, a split in Nicolas' ear is the only reminder of his Christmas miracle.

On Christmas Eve, 2013, a tiny puppy, who was barely alive, showed up at Noah's Hope Animal Rescue in Sioux City, Iowa. His rescuer, Deanna Jarvis, refused to let the tiny German Shepherd-Chow mix die.

"The vet said that Nicolas was hypothermic and needed to be on a heating pad. Instead I zipped him up in my sweatshirt and rocked him in a chair for three days," Jarvis told Inquisitr.com.
Jarvis took home the sick little puppy, who was also suffering from an infected, broken jaw, which was so tiny, it had to heal on it's own. Jarvis hand fed the puppy, with help from her son, Marcus.

Marcus cuddles the abandoned, sick puppy, who had been through so much in his short life.
Once Nicolas was healthy enough to be adopted, Jarvis found him the perfect forever home with Tom and Bea Johnson. “We fell in love with him when we saw him,” Tom told the Inquisitr.

The Johnsons promised Jarvis and her son that they would bring Nicolas to see them regularly. Amazingly, one year later, the dog still remembers the woman who saved his life as a newborn.
Today, Nicolas is a happy, healthy and normal dog, with only a small scar on his ear to remind them of his first Christmas tragedy-turned-miracle.

“What a different Christmas this will be for him,” said proud foster mom, Jarvis, who is so happy Nicolas can spend this holiday in his forever home.
