Puppy Survives A Deadly Semi-Truck Collision

Early Wednesday morning, a truck transporting more than 40,000 lbs of steel plowed into the back of another semi parked on the side of the road, leaving one man dead. Authorities at the scene uncovered an unlikely survivor amid the wreckage.

Milan Ilic, 60, was driving sometime around 4:30 a.m. when his truck rear-ended the semi of Robert Major, 36, who had pulled over to rest. The steel cylinder being carried on Ilic’s truck bed become loose on impact and crushed through the cabin of the truck, killing Ilic. Major survived and was unhurt, as did the unsuspecting passenger riding beside Ilic — a tiny puppy.

“Rescue crews found Major’s brown and white puppy, whose name is Peterbilt, in the wreckage unharmed,” reports WHIO, adding that his employer is arranging to have the animal returned to Major’s family.

“It’s one of the worst (accidents) I’ve seen,” Robert Vanhoose, an eyewitness told WHIO News. “It’s kind of hard to explain. It makes you reflect on your life.”

Despite all of this, the puppy remained relatively unharmed. Investigators at the scene believe that his size was what saved his life. Whatever the reason, bystanders are convinced that his survival was nothing short of a miracle.
