The dangers of keeping a child or a dog locked in a hot car have been stressed time and time again.
Deputy Robin Regan from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia even demonstrated how quickly a person can start having symptoms of heatstroke in a very effective video.
Yet, some parents and dog owners continue to leave their innocent little ones in a car as they run errands. This can lead to death. In fact, about 38 children die each year from being left in a hot car.
People are encouraged to call 911 if they see a child or dog locked in a car on a summer day. That's what happened in the video below shared by the Sacramento Fire Department Engine 4 on Facebook.
The firefighters came to the dog's rescue by forcing the door open. Watch the dog prance around after his rescue!
"Please remember: Don't leave your dog in a car on a hot day. Besides the obvious negative effect on the dog, fines can be up to $500. In a worst case scenario, the charge would be felony animal cruelty, which carries a stiff penalty. Please take your dogs with you when you lock up, or leave them at home," the video's caption reads.
