Whether it's for human moms or animal moms, a mother's instinct guides them in raising their young and keeping them safe. They seem to know at any moment when their little ones are threatened and in danger, and quickly jump to the rescue.
That's what observers in Morro Bay, California, witnessed and captured on camera.
When an otter mom and her pup got separated, the baby started crying for help, unable to move in the water. Otter pups only start swimming on their own after they're 2 months old. Before then, their moms carry them on their bellies for protection, like a very adorable raft.
The mom, hearing these desperate pleas for help, quickly turned around and swam as fast as possible straight to her baby.
In the clip, you can watch how the mother rolls him onto her belly. When she does, the little one's cries immediately stop. He knows he's in the safest hands and is no longer in distress!
It's not every day that you can see how animals are just like us many ways, especially when it comes down to protecting their young. Moms would do anything for their babies!
