We all have special bonds with our pets — unique relationships that differ from the friendships in our normal human interactions.
But they’re not without their small crimes. Any dog owner will tell you that a pup knows when it’s doing something naughty. When they terrorize your sofa, demolish your running shoes, or manage to sneak into the pantry and pulverize your nonperishables, they know that they’re not supposed to be in there. But much like our children, it’s impossible to stay angry at them. They’re too darn cute.
And our dogs can understand us, too. So when we ask them if they’ve done something naughty, they can generally pick up on cues. This is exactly what happened when Sebastian the Newfoundland’s human mama commended him for not eating his sister’s toy. “You’re so good,” she says. “I think it’s so good you’re not eating it.” But then Sebastian pipes up because apparently, the subject of eating things he’s not supposed to is a bit of a sore topic. Wait until you hear his response when his mama brings up the “cupcake,” one he snagged off the counter and ate for himself. His response will absolutely destroy you with how adorable it is…
