Widow Finds New Purpose In Raising Guide Dogs For The Blind

Have you ever been completely taken aback by a tragedy in life?

If so, you know how such a devastating heartbreak can leave you completely blinded in life. Here at LittleThings, we know well that sometimes something good can come from an unfortunate tragedy, like this woman who was nearly killed by an evil ex-boyfriend, but ended up in the care of her future husband. We love celebrating these special and unique stories to give anyone going through a tough time some hope, but we also know how difficult it can be to see the light when you're in such a dark and lonely place.

When this Chinese woman's husband passed away suddenly, she contemplated suicide, but found a reason to live after she started rescuing hopeless animals. Lorraine Trapani can relate, as her world was turned upside down when she lost the love of her life to pancreatic cancer, but like many people, her way of mourning was to bury herself in her work and take her pain out on her own body. In the following video, we learn how Trapani gained nearly 100 pounds trying to distract herself from the pain and lost part of herself in the process. She knew something had to change, so she began raising a puppy for Guiding Eyes For the Blind, a nonprofit organization that trains dogs to be seeing eye companions through the help of volunteers.

Today, Trapani is a new woman and is proud to keep her husband, who lost his vision during his sickness, alive through her volunteer work in helping other blind people.
