A property maintenance worker could not believe his eyes when he discovered a lost and abandoned sheep wandering around an Australian forest.
The man could tell the sheep was in bad shape. Sheep need to be sheared at least once every year — or else their wool will grow longer, thicker, and heavier, leading to a whole bunch of medical issues and potential infections.
The sheep he was looking at had more than 75 pounds of wool weighing him down … that's about five years worth of unsheared wool!
The concerned maintenance worker took it upon himself to reach out to a well-known animal sanctuary for help.
The amazing folks at Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary took in the exhausted sheep, named him Baarack, and quickly got to work on his emotional and physical transformation.
It was clear to the staff that Baarack had had an owner, based on the ear tag that had been ripped out by his matted fleece. His wool had grown to the point he could barely see and navigate his surroundings. He suffered from an ulcer and malnutrition.
But after volunteers sheared off nearly 80 pounds of wool that'd been weighing him down for so long, Baarack's personality began to shine through. He could finally see again, he was eating healthily, and he had a spring in his step.
Edgar's Mission shared a video of Baarack's incredible transformation on TikTok, and it has already garnered more than 18.5 million views.
