If you have a cat, you know just how much they love to touch things.
Using their paws, they'll knead, or "make biscuits," on just about any tactile surface, including a few…er, odd places. They just can't wait to get their paws on anything and everything that feels good!
While researchers aren't 100% sure why cats have the urge to knead, there are several theories out there. One is that it reminds them of happy memories of nursing as a kitten and kneading for their mothers' milk.
Another theory suggests that it's their form of "bedding down," or preparing a comfortable place to sleep. In the wild, there would be lots of leaves and sticks and things to move around (similar to why dogs often walk in circles and scratch the ground before plopping down).
Either way, kneading and kitty caresses are incredibly cute, as long as they keep those claws trimmed!
