Book your stay at The Stanford Inn in Mendocino, CA.
All of the things a person would expect from a coastal Northern California town are really happening in Mendocino, California. The Stanford Inn Mendocino Hotel & Resort is exactly the type of hotel you'd hope to find there. The space itself is both impressive and charming. Boasting a large pine and redwood paneled lobby that leads into one of the first vegan restaurants in the area, The Ravens is a lovely space to go for a meal with the entire family. Stanford Inn's inviting vibe makes you want to sit down at the bar before you even check in to take in the gorgeous views of the property's organic farm as you enjoy a generous pour of a local pinot noir at Happy Hour.
It is common to see couples cozied up at the bar enjoying a snack and a drink while their pet pal sits at their side. Free-range and friendly hotel cats also litter the lobby, which is a nice touch for animal lovers.
The rooms are gorgeous and most have incredible views. Next step is to check out the solarium, which features high ceilings, a huge heated pool, a tiled jacuzzi, and dry sauna. The inn also hosts classes including yoga, cooking, and gardening, as well as offering gratis bicycles for guests to explore the area. There is even a boathouse and canoes and kayaks to rent out.
In the midst of chanterelle season, don't miss out on the mushroom foraging tour offered by the inn. I missed the hotel tour, but I did get a chance to go out with a friend who is a seasoned mushroom hunter and we ended up preparing the most wonderful homemade pasta and chanterelle dish imaginable. Of course, only eat mushrooms if you are with somebody who has a deep knowledge of the area and the safety of the mushrooms and definitely don't let your dog near any that could make him or her get sick. Important to note: the mushrooms pictured above are not the ones I ate!!!
So what are you waiting for? If you've always wanted to see what the coastline in Mendocino, CA has to offer but you can't imagine leaving your pup at home, it's time for you to make a reservation. While you're at the spa getting a massage, you can leave an animal documentary on for your doggo and both of you can live your best NorCal life at the Stanford Inn!
