When Michael Buckley decided to pack up his things and move from South Carolina to Colorado with his best friend, he was excited about hitting the road and the unexpected journey, but nothing could have prepared him for what was going to happen when he arrived in Atlanta, Georgia.
As Buckley stopped for directions in the southern city, when he returned to his Ford Explorer, it was gone….and so was his best friend, a bulldog named Tazzie that was inside. Heartbroken, Buckley called Atlanta police who were able to locate his car the next day but without Tazzie inside.
Fearing the worst but also hoping for the best, Buckley decided to stick around Atlanta and post "missing dog" signs throughout the city. When residents heard what had happened, Buckley said, they came out in force to help him look for his beloved bulldog, including complete strangers offering him rides to look for his pup.
It turns out those missing signs worked because Melissa Robinson found Tazzie two blocks away from where his car was stolen, saw the signs, and called Buckley right away.
The best friends were quickly reunited and are expected to make their way, together, to Colorado.
Although his experience in Atlanta started off a little rough, Buckley said the way the residents rallied around him restored his faith in the city.
