12 Veteran War Dogs Are Being Reunited With Their Soldier Buddies

Twelve canine warriors bravely served our country overseas. These heroes are credited with having saved hundreds, possibly even thousands of American soldiers, but when a contract company purchased these dogs from the department of defense, things suddenly got a bit more complicated.

The contract company had Greg Meredith look after the dogs for what they said would only be a few weeks, but for the past year and a half now they've remained under the care of Meredith, who has been working his hardest to help heal the emotional wounds of these soldier dogs. He was initially tasked with rehabilitating these warriors and training them to become therapy dogs, but that never ended up happening.

When the dogs arrived at Meredith's door, emaciated and horrified, the good people at the clinic did their best to see that these brave animals got the love and care they deserved. Some were showing clear signs of PTSD and others still had shrapnel dug into their bodies, but over the year and one-half, as Meredith waited for the money he was promised, he continued to pay for everything out of his own pocket.

Eventually Meredith was told that the dogs were too old and that he should dispose of the dogs as he saw fit. After spending nearly all of his life savings, and tasked with the duty of caring for these 12 dogs, a GoFundMe campaign has been started to see if he can get the money it took to save these animals. He's lost everything, and while the dogs are all thankful for that, it's time to help Meredith out too!

In the meantime, Mission K-9 Rescue has partnered with The United States War Dog Association, and with their help a new mission has begun: to find the dogs' original Army dog handlers. 8 of the 12 dogs are on their way to being reunited with their old war buddies, and if the last four owners can't be found we're sure these dogs, who have had such a long journey home, will finally find where they truly belong.
