Kevin Gleason and his wife came home from their honeymoon to the last thing they ever expected to find. Their beloved Doberman, Athena, was suddenly unable to walk.
The vets diagnosed Athena with Wobblers Syndrome, which paralyzed all four limbs. At 9-years-old, they said it was terminal.
As you'll see in the heartbreaking beginning of this video, Athena couldn't move. She couldn't eat. She was depressed. But even after four months of dealing with Wobblers, the Gleasons knew they couldn't give up on their girl.
Athena underwent invasive ventral decompression surgery, and her parents were diligent with post-op therapy. And one day, a miracle came true — Athena could walk again.
Kevin says, "The recovery process is long and hard, but it can work, even in "hopeless" situations. Athena is still running around almost a year later."
I'm so glad this amazing family never lost hope.
