11 Things Your Dog Would Say If She Could Actually Talk

Do you ever wish that your dog could talk to you?

It would make taking care of her so much easier and less stressful, especially when you suspect she might not be feeling well. If only we could just ask her if she was having a stomachache or if she thought she stepped on something sharp at the park. Life would be so much easier if you knew the things your dog wants you to know.

But even though we can't get a straight answer from the family dog, it's so worth it to have that companionship. And if you learn to pick up on cues from your pet, you may find that you develop a little language of your own.

These are 11 things that every dog probably wishes she could tell you straight off the bat.

Did we miss anything you think your dog would say out loud if she could? Do you think you can intuit what your dog is trying to tell you? Please SHARE with your family and friends on Facebook!

1. "Talk To Me!"

While, no, you don't speak the same language as your dog, she still wants to hear your voice when you come home from work. Especially if you have an anxious dog, the sound of your voice can mean the world to your pooch. Dogs also rely heavily on body language, so speak with your body as well with lots of pets and a relaxed demeanor.

2. "This Wasn't An Act Of Revenge "

Dogs feel lots of emotions, but they don't hold grudges or seek revenge like humans do. When your pup chews up your slippers or gets into the garbage, it wasn't any kind of revenge stunt or grudge, she was just being a dog.

3. "Don't Give Up On Me"

Your dog aims to please, and even if it's taking her a bit long to learn the rules of the house, she wants to learn. Don't give up on your pup, you must be patient!

4. "You Don't Own Me"

Your dog doesn't see herself as being your possession, and you shouldn't view her that way, either. What you may not know, though, is that your dog sees you as her possession sometimes. She thinks that she has to protect you from others, and to mark you with her scent. It's a compliment, trust me!

5. "I'm Not Dull, Just Uninterested"

Your dog in't actively ignoring you, she's just found something more interesting than you. If you're trying to train your dog and she keeps getting distracted, you need to find a way to make yourself more interesting than her surroundings. If that means simplifying the surroundings, then so be it!

6. "Yes, I Really, Really Love Food"

You dog's world essentially revolves around two things: you, and food. Food is a great way to motivate your dog, and it's a great way to keep her happy. Give her little bits and pieces throughout the day instead of one single meal. Those toys that release treats are great for when you can't spend the whole day together.

7. "Yelling Might Encourage Me"

All attention is likely to be viewed as affirmation. Raising your voice could be seen as a bark to your dog, which can in turn seem like an affirmation. Yellign at your dog is never a good idea. Instead, stay calm and wait to catch your dog in the naughty act before punishing with a "No!" or else she won't know what you are upset about.

8. "Please Don't Get Mad When I Show You Love"

Dogs can get pretty darn excited when they see their human, and that could mean jumping and pawing. Don't get mad wen you're shown this affection, but be grateful you have such a strong bond with your pooch!

9. "I Know How You Feel"

dogs can pick up on when you are sad, and they'll do everything in their power to comfort you. Don't think that just because your pup isn't human that she can't pick up on your feelings. Dogs actually have a very good sense of how you're feeling.

10. "I Am Not A Person"

Many people love their dogs so much that they think of their canine companions as extensions of their human family, and while pets are members of the family, they are not people! Your dog has her own particular needs, and they need to be addressed. For example, dogs need a ton of exercise that, say, a human two-year old simply wouldn't need. Also, dogs can't tell you how they are feeling, so you need to be extra vigilant about keeping an eye out for warning signs or illness.

11. "I Get Lonely"

While keeping busy is great for human morale, if you have committed to caring for a dog, you must honor that commitment. Your dog will miss you if you are gone for extended periods of time, and she will certainly get a little stir crazy and destructive if she is left to her own anxieties often enough. Make sure you always carve out enough time to dedicate to your dog.
