Hammie, a Bulldog who lives in Nebraska with his owner, Michelle Parden, has some adopted siblings that he just can't take his eyes off of!
When Michelle took in a homeless cat at the request of her area shelter, she realized the cat was about to give birth, and soon, 6 new kittens were born – much to the delight of Hammie! As soon as they arrived, Hammie gave them gentle, nurturing attention, often seeming like he wanted to protect them and keep them safe!
According to his owner, "When Hammie first met [the kittens] he was so gentle… he very carefully would lift his paw over them and caress the kittens." Since then, the kittens have all been adopted, but Hammie visits them whenever he can, because his owner saw just how devoted he was to them when they were born!
Stories where an older dog protects a litter of kittens are just some of the best stories out there – it proves that animals have hearts of gold!
