Free-roaming dogs in India, many which are rabid, number in the millions and pose a serious threat to their society for a variety of different reasons.
However, in their culture, every living creature matters and every life is worth helping. When the Animal Aid Unlimited (India) organization learned about a dog who was found close to death on the street, they knew they had to do something. The dog, who they decided to name Tony, was found with a severed front leg and a huge gash across his sweet face. Tony was in excruciating pain and wouldn't have lasted the night.
A veterinarian was able to stitch the hurting dog's face back together and amputated the leg, which had broken off. Four days after Tony was found, he began to show signs of getting better. He wagged his tail, was playful with the other dogs and even got excited about eating. The vet says Tony will survive and that his story is a true miracle. I'm so happy he is finally in loving arms. This video is proof that a little love can go such a long way!
