Vet Glues Turtle’s Broken Shell. Years Later, She Spots Odd Pattern In Leaves And Sees It’s Him

Turtles are perhaps one of the best-hidden creatures of the woods. They are small, slow, and blend in with their surroundings.

But as a result, people may not see them when they try to cross the street. Speeding drivers may not spot the little reptiles in time, accidentally running them over. Of course, this leads to many turtle deaths. And if they survive, they are often left injured and in need of medical assistance. Turtles can't live for very long with broken shells.

Thankfully, vets have come up with genius ways to mend their shells. These techniques hold the shell in place as it heals.

A vet from the Hocking Hills Animal Clinic says that a client brought her a box turtle with a broken shell, which she easily repaired with fiberglass. But what she didn't expect was to see the turtle again years later.

Now scroll down to see what he looks like now!

Turtles, as precious as they are, are often injured in car accidents when drivers don't see them crossing the road.

A vet from the Hocking Hills Animal Clinic treated one of these turtles and managed to hold his shell together with fiberglass.

She then released the animal back into the woods.

Years later, she saw an odd pattern in the leaves in those same woods.

She realized it was the same turtle she had treated years ago! Not only was her patient doing well, but the fiberglass was still on his shell!

The vet posted about the amazing encounter on Facebook, but was likely surprised by the flurry of positive reactions from total strangers.

The vet added that if she had known the fiberglass would stay on for so long, she would have made the design a little more stylish.
