An unnamed Texas woman and her family have come under fire this week after allegedly soliciting animal cruelty on her Facebook page.
CBS affiliate KYTX reports that the Troup, TX woman posted a message on Facebook requesting that someone volunteer to shoot her dog, a 3-year-old Saint Bernard and English bulldog mix named Cinnamon, even adding that she would provide the weapon to carry out the heinous act.
The startling Facebook post read:
"I need someone to come shoot my dog, nobody here has the heart to do it! We will provide the gun!"
Thankfully, animal rescue center Nicholas Pet Haven was alerted to the message, after which they immediately took Cinnamon into custody. A Facebook post from the shelter alleges the woman posted the message after Cinnamon repeatedly got into the family's trash. MailOnline reports that within 24 hours of the shelter posting a request for a foster family, Cinnamon found a temporary home.
"I saw this and thought it was a terrible thing," Theresa Vail, Cinnamon's foster mother, tells KYTX. She added, "[I've] got room so that's why I volunteered." Cinnamon will remain with Theresa until she is paired with a new forever home.
