13 Photos Of Precious Zoo Babies That Will Steal Your Heart

After we all waited anxiously for the birth of April the giraffe's little boy for over almost two months, it's no surprise that you might want even more adorable baby-animal cuteness filling up your screens.

Ever since the famous mama giraffe's live stream went off-air, I know I've been feeling the lack of precious zoo babies in my life, which is exactly why I decided to compile a bunch of these cuties and show them off!

I was also surprised by how short a time some of these animal parents have to wait to meet their little ones, particularly in comparison to April. That said, she and her fellow giraffes don't have anything like the long waiting period of the massive critters in #7.

Take a look and let us know in the comments if we forgot to include any of your favorite zoo babies.

And don't forget to SHARE all of these little faces with your friends!

After a mating ritual that includes a "courtship dance" and nesting period, Mom and Dad both take turns incubating their egg for about 27 to 31 days.

2. Zebra

On average, zebra mares spend at least an entire year, or 365 days, gestating their little ones. The breed known as Grevy's zebra, however, has a gestation period that's a bit longer, with mamas waiting up to 438 days.

3. Sand Cat

These adorable — yet still fierce — wild felines pretty much always look like young kittens, even as they grow up, after spending about 66 days in the womb.

4. Grivet

These precious primates spend about two or three months cooking in their mom's belly before entering the world.

5. Penguin

Depending on the size of their egg, these li'l guys can take anywhere between 32 to 68 days to hatch.

Another interesting note: With emperor penguins, it's the dads who keep their little ones warm in their shells, while their moms go off exploring.

6. Mara

These little mammals, which resemble a cross between a deer and a bunny, wait an average of 100 days while pregnant.

Both Asian and African elephants are known to have the world's longest gestation periods, each possibly lasting as long as 22 months.

8. Pygmy Hippo

These water babies wait just a bit less than our human tots, taking about six to seven months.

9. Klipspringer

The sprightly breed of antelope also takes just about seven months to make their adorable entrance into the world.

10. Giraffe

As we all learned while waiting for mama April to pop her little baby out, these majestic creatures can take quite awhile to make their first appearance, with an average 13 to 15 months for gestation.

How cute are his little stripes across his back? He spent about 13 months developing those in his mama's womb.

These little balls of super cute fluff are born in litters of three to five pups and spend just a bit over a month, about 34 days, waiting in the womb.

The fastest land mammal takes their time, about 90 to 95 days, developing their litters of about four to six cubs every few years.
