Makeup is something that has been present in almost every society on earth for over 6,000 years. Some people would argue that makeup even existed as far back as 100,000 years ago when cosmetic body art was prevalent.
Since the first evidence of makeup, the products have definitely come a long way. What was once a combination of soil, minerals, and clay mixed with water is now a multibillion-dollar industry that allows for women to buy makeup at just about every street corner in a variety of shades, sizes, and even specialized formulas for skin tones and types.
Although makeup has changed over the years, it Is still being used for the same basic purpose: to highlight a woman’s natural beauty. But it has also evolved into its own art form.
With the creation of makeup artistry, people are able to earn a living creating works of art on totally unique canvases, sometimes in the form of makeup transformations, like the Instagrammer who can make himself look like any celebrity with a few good products and amazing technique.
This film from Cut Video is a part of their series 100 Years of Beauty, which shows a time-lapse of women from different cultures all over the world, transforming their look to represent each decade in their culture, with a little help from some talented makeup artists. While you may have seen a former video from this series on our website which showed 100 years in beauty from the USA, it is awesome to see how it changes for the women of Mexico.
It's no wonder that each of these styles continues to make a comeback over and over again… They are all so beautiful!
