13-Year-Old Is Jailed For 11 Days After Being Framed Online By Bully Making Bomb Threats

In the world of adolescence, navigating the complex landscape of school, friendships, and social dynamics can be challenging. The story of Nia Whims, a 13-year-old student in Pembroke Pines, Florida, reveals a harrowing experience where a young girl found herself caught in a web of accusations, bullying, and a troubling misunderstanding that led to her arrest and an 11-day detention.

The ordeal began when Nia found herself facing a grave accusation: making threats against her school. The allegations pointed to her as the source of threats on Instagram to bomb the school and kill another student. These accusations led to Nia getting arrested and handcuffed in front of her mother and then taken to a juvenile detention center.

The video shown is heartbreaking as you see Nia looking at her mother crying with fear and confusion. Jim Moret from Inside Edition interviewed both Nia and her mother, Leslie Davis, about the incident and how it affected them. Jim asked Leslie, “How did you feel when you saw the officer take your daughter and put her in handcuffs?”

Leslie replied, “I said to her, 'You’re going to handcuff her too?!'” Leslie begged the police to investigate who was actually behind these threatening messages. The police did not reach their full potential on this one! It took them two months to track down the source of the threats. The police claimed that the investigation was delayed because Nia’s family, “didn’t cooperate with investigators.”

Attorney Marwan Porter, who represents the family, said: “They needed to acknowledge they were wrong. 'We screwed up!' Don’t try to pass the buck on a 13-year-old little girl and her mother by saying they didn’t cooperate!” Nia’s mother and her attorney contend that Nia was not the perpetrator but the victim of a malevolent bully.

A fellow student, who had been tormenting Nia for some time, took their bullying to an appalling level. The bully allegedly impersonated Nia on Instagram and using her identity to send these threats. Nia’s charges were all dropped and the student, whose name was not released, has been charged instead.
