Man Beautifully Restores A Cast-Iron Aquarium From The 1880s

Do you have any fish in your home?

If you do, do you have a small fish bowl, a medium-size tank, or a high-quality aquarium for your fish to swim in?

In the 1800s, having an aquarium in your home was quite obviously a luxury. It was not something that every family could afford, and frankly, after learning about their history, I can understand why!

YouTube user Pawlik Lab found an old aquarium dating back to 1875 that had been turned into a fountain. Apparently, when they were sold, they were just $34, which equals about $900 these days.

After purchasing the aquarium, he set to work on restoring it to its former glory. Back then, these tanks were massive and similar to very glamorous art pieces.

Not only does he show how he restored this aquarium, he also gave a bit of history on what the original model looked like. The only major difference between the two is his version is missing the little boy with an umbrella on top!
