3-Legged Dog Celebrates July 4th On The Beach

Obie, a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, loves to spend time at the beach. During this past July 4th weekend, the pup joined his owner for a day of fun in the sun. It may not seem unusual, but what makes Obie so special is that he only has three legs!

Paul Werbin adopted Obie from the Virginia Beach SPCA five years ago. He thought Obie would be the perfect companion for his 80-year-old father.

When he introduced the three-legged dog to his father, Werbin recalls, "Dad said, 'Well good. Then he won't be able to outrun me.'"

The pair were inseparable until his father passed away two years ago. Today, Werbin treats the dog to special trips to the beach, and they even go paddle boarding together! (Perhaps next time, Obie needs to join these 11 happy dogs for their beach party!)

In the video, Werbin and the 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier head to a spot called "Stealth Beach." He puts the dog in a tiny life vest before they spend the afternoon paddle boarding.

"This is so peaceful, it's our slice of heaven," he said.

Obie, who usually walks with the help of a two wheeled animal cycle, is able to enjoy the finer things in life, like spending a relaxing day on the beach. No doubt, he is living the best life ever thanks to owner.
