As parents, we’ve all been in the situation where we’ve turned our backs or gone into another room for what felt like a split second only to come back and discover our little one getting into mischief. Unfortunately for this grandmother and her family, this scary story took things to a whole other level.
In San Jose, California, 3-month-old Brandon Cuellar was being babysat by his grandmother for the day while his mother was at work.
The pair went to the grocery store together, and upon arriving home, his grandma brought him inside the home first and then went outside to retrieve her groceries. Only when she came back, little Brandon was nowhere to be found.
The disappearance of Brandon was immediately reported to the authorities, and they quickly began their investigation.
A spokesperson from the San Jose Police Department, Sergeant Christian Camarillo, released a statement in relation to the case saying that they believed that in that short amount of time, someone entered the home and left with baby Brandon.
There was nearby footage taken that showed a mysterious man in a hat carrying a baby in a car seat with a blanket covering it as he briskly walked down the road. The FBI also got involved and began visiting homes in the area searching for Brandon.
When Brandon’s mother, Carolina Ayala, was made aware of the disappearance of her infant son, she fell to the ground, completely distraught. “When I found out that my son was missing, I felt like half of my heart had left with him,” Carolina wept.
