As sad as it may be, there are still companies and research facilities all around the world that continue to test their products, medicines, and procedures on animals.
While many groups continue to get bills passed and convince colleges and medical facilities to stop using animals in their tests, at least 100 million animals suffer and die during these drug, food, and cosmetics tests each year, and that doesn’t even take into account the number of more common testing animals like rats, mice, and birds who have no protection whatsoever.
Although it may be a long time before animal testing is banned worldwide, groups like the Beagle Freedom Project do everything they possibly can to provide better lives for the animals that they are able to save.
Living isolated in cold, metal cages, these beagles are chosen for testing due to their trusting, docile, forgiving, and people-pleasing qualities.
When certain labs are done testing on specific dogs, they allow volunteers from Beagle Freedom Project to take the dogs and place them in a home. The five dogs seen in this video come all the way from a lab in South Korea, where they have been kept inside their entire lives, never seeing sun or even touching their paws to grass before, like the pup in another video from the same group.
All five dogs have been brought back to the U.S., and volunteers are working to acclimate them to a more normal life. They do require special care due to the life they have lived up until this point, and the special people who take them in are just as amazing as the volunteers who rescue them!
