Daughter Of Pro Baseball Player Throws First Pitch While Recovering From Leukemia

If there were a "dad of the week" award to be given, Cleveland Indians infielder Mike Aviles would most certainly be a contender.

Last week, shortly before the Cleveland Indians squared up against the New York Yankees, a small little girl stood center field and grasped a baseball tightly in her hands. Putting her hands up and signaling for the onlooking crowd to watch carefully, the little girl with a bow on her head wound up and tossed the first pitch.

The little girl was Mike Aviles' daughter Adriana, who is currently battling Leukemia. Adriana was soon joined by her twin Maiya, fitted in a matching dress and sneakers. Both girls were smiling ear to ear as they tossed baseballs to catchers on their father's team.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Aviles gave pretty much the sweetest dad response ever:

“The biggest thing for me is my joy comes from my kids,” Aviles said “I have three girls and a boy on the way. I enjoy just seeing them happy. It makes me happy. That’s what you want to do as a parent, you want your kids to be happy. You don’t want to see them crying. You want to see them always laughing and joking. When they’re having a good time, I’m excited.”

What a guy!
