As She Twirls, You’ll Notice The Secret Hiding Under Her Skirt… I’m in AWE!

This woman is truly incredible!

On April 15, 2013, many lives were changed forever when terrorists set off bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Professional ballroom dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis lost her left leg below the knee in the attacks. For many people, this would have been a death sentence to a career that requires them to constantly be on their feet. But Adrianne treated her circumstances like a challenge instead of a setback, and when you watch her dance, it's impossible not to feel inspired.

After being convinced by the amputee community to never stop dancing, Adrianne took up her craft again with her partner, Artsiom Chapialiou. Then, in a performance that's as moving as Patrick Swayze's first televised dance with his wife, the pair took the stage at a TEDx event and blew the crowd away. Honestly, the first time I watched the video, I had no idea that she was wearing a prosthetic leg! Her story reminds me of this war veteran who dances despite losing both an arm and a leg.

Adrianne's story is not only a testament to the amazing ways that prosthesis can change lives, but also to the infinite endurance of the human spirit. Nobody would have blamed her if she had decided to give up doing what she loved most, yet she chose to persevere and encourage other amputees to keep on dancing.

If Adrianne's dancing has motivated you, SHARE this video with your friends to encourage them to never give up!
