After spending a whole day snapping photos and enjoying the sights of Sweden, a schoolteacher captured something truly awe-inspiring on her way back to her rented cottage.
Siv Poijo noticed a huge albino reindeer off to the side of the road, and she must have felt wonder. It's no surprise so many cultures see these beautiful animals as touched by heaven in some sense. Imagine if you were walking in the forest all alone and you suddenly saw something like this walking in front of you, it would truly feel special wouldn't it?
People think white reindeers are holy creatures that bring good luck, and while there are almost none left in the wild, there are people who do their best to protect and preserve these rare animals.
Any animal with albinism has a very slim chance at making it in life. It's hard to hide in the green bushes from a predator when your fur is white as snow. Then again, this fur color certainly helps northern animals once winter comes!
No matter what, we're glad this schoolteacher managed to get such beautiful photographs of such a wonderful animal. It's really humbling to realize just how many beautiful creatures there are wandering the forests of our beautiful planet!
