While stories of overcoming adversity are certainly not unique in today's media, there is just something about the story of America's Got Talent contestant Alonzo Jones that stands out as more than a little bit special.
Known as “Turf” to his family and friends, Jones was kicked out of his house by his mother after he graduated from high school and set his sights on becoming a dancer. While this is where the story might take a turn for the worse for a lot of people, these unfortunate events only seemed to make Turf's talent shine brighter.
Homeless for the better part of two years, Turf took his talent to the streets, dancing for money every day. His talent was apparent (he moves even better than this amazing dancer!), and he was able to get by scraping out a living dancing on the streets. At this time, Turf also began to gather a bit of a following of locals who would faithfully watch him dance and tip him; many of whom loyally followed him to the America's Got Talent stage to support the young talented man they saw on the streets every day.
Turf's talent speaks for itself.
