When the weather, and water, get warmer this time of year, it's not uncommon for beach goers, surfers, and fisherman to spot a dolphin, manatee, and even a whale, swimming out in the water.
However, seeing one on land is a different story. That is exactly what happened when one local sea captain spotted a stranded manatee washed up on the beaches of Disappearing Island in the heart of the Ponce Inlet in Florida. He knew something had to be done so he called in for reinforcements until fish and wildlife teams arrived.
Those reinforcements consisted of about dozens of beach goers and boaters who supplied shade, oxygen and water to keep the manatee hydrated. Then those dozens of volunteers, along with members of the wildlife team, were able to carry the sea cow back to sea unharmed.
What an amazing tale!
