It's every parent's nightmare to hear that their child is sick. No matter how serious or fleeting the disease might be, it can feel so helpless to know that your child's health and well-being is not entirely in your hands, but is now in the hands of a doctor.
It's this situation that the Andrews family knows all too well.
Parents Pam and Chris have two beautiful daughters, Belle and Abby, who have been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Niemann-Pick type C1 disease (NPC1). It's a degenerative disease that has historically proven to be fatal by the age of 20.
The Andrews are working to combat that statistic and save their young daughters' lives.
As the disease is so rare, with fewer than 600 diagnosed cases worldwide, there isn't a lot of awareness about it.
This family is on a mission to change that.
They've set up a GoFundMe page as well as an informational Facebook page to get their story out there in the hope that they can make a difference. They've already raised over half of their $350,000 goal, but donations are welcome and needed to help save these adorable sisters' lives.
The girls are currently receiving treatment in Chicago to slow the affects of NPC1, but a cure has yet to be found.
