Army Captain Risks His Life To Save A Couple From A Burning Car

Army Captain Steve Voglezon put his life on the line to save two people from a fiery crash on Sunday while ironically sporting a Captain America T-shirt.

Like the off-duty police officer who jumped in a river to save two young women from a crash crash, Voglezon stepped in without a second thought to bring William Thompson and his wife Kathleen to safety.

A video captured the overwhelming flames hovering over a flipped vehicle in Chatham County, NC, bringing the severity of the crash to view.

When he approached one of the passengers, Voglezon recalled hearing Mr. Thompson moaning and screaming.

“I reached my hand into the car to touch his hand, he squeezed back, so I knew he was coherent enough to do something,” he told CNN.

The clip also shows Voglezon’s bravery as he was dragging one of the passengers away from the fire at the 1:19 mark.

During the interview with CNN below, host Anderson Cooper asked Voglezon if he was frightened as he was helping. The off-duty Army Captain said at that moment he didn’t have time to think about his own emotions. Instead, he focused on saving the strangers’ lives.

“I saw people who needed and I guess the Army programming kicked in,” added Voglezon, who also acknowledged the other Good Samaritans who helped.
