While many artists use the traditional paintbrush and aisle to create undoubtedly beautiful works of art, others resort to unconventional methods to make their visions a reality. We love the way Blake Richardson uses the natural forms of rock and wood as his inspiration, and the way Randall Rosenthal uses just a single block of wood to make a box of money we can only wish was real.
We also love what artist British artist Brett Day does with perhaps one of the most unconventional painting surfaces we’ve seen to date: the garbage can.
Brett doesn’t just use the surfaces of your average run-of-the-mill garbage cans to create amazing works of art — he also paints skateboards and cars!
It’s Brett’s technique that really catches your eye: using just spray paint, he creates works of art in mere minutes that would leave you believing they took hours of careful strokes from a paintbrush.
In this clip, he paints a very detailed landscape featuring a waterfall, a forest, and a cloudy night sky. Just wait until he’s done — you’d never think that this was carefully done with just spray paint and a few tools! At first, it doesn't look like much…but just a few seconds in, you start seeing the landscape form before your very eyes!
And you’re in luck: If you want to learn how to paint like Brett, he provides many tutorial videos on his Youtube page.
If you’re as amazed by Brett’s work as we are, please SHARE!
