A 911 call turned into a life-changing experience in the home of Chris and Brittany Martin of Lakewood, Colorado.
Brittany, a mom of three children who was expecting her fourth, was at home when her water suddenly broke.
But being an experienced mom, she figured she still had time to make it to the hospital — so she decided to rinse herself off quickly.
That's when the massive contraction hit her completely by surprise.
"I went to hop in the shower to clean off. By the time I got out, there was one big contraction,” Brittany said.
Both Brittany and husband Chris decided they would not have time to make it to the hospital, so he called 911. Frantic and nervous as Brittany screamed in the background, Chris tried to convey his situation to the 911 operator.
"At that point, I had two lives in my hands: my wife’s and my newborn,” Chris said.
Luckily, the operator calmly talked him through what was happening, and together, they were able to deliver the baby safely at home!
"Oh my God, I can't believe I just did this," he said during the call.
"That's pretty awesome!" the operator, Jill Conway, replied. Conway told Fox31 Denver that it's her job to be a voice of reason in situations like the Martins'.
"They're looking at it and their mind is going 100 miles an hour. My job is to slow it all down for them and give them the next steps," Jill said. "The second I heard the baby cry, that was a huge sigh of relief for me. She's out and she's doing good."
The Martins welcomed their new daughter, Aralee May — and we're sure she'll have quite the story to tell later in life!
