Georgia Infant Dies After Being Left In A Car For Seven Hours Following Her Dad’s Arrest

A family in Georgia is suffering an unimaginable loss after an 8-month-old infant was left in a hot car for nearly seven hours. The baby girl passed away on May 5, 2022.

Authorities in Georgia are placing the blame on her 20-year-old father. Davied Japez McCorry Whatley walked into a police station on May 5, 2022, to claim weapons that had been confiscated, and was arrested once authorities realized he had an outstanding warrant.

Authorities have stated that the weapons were confiscated as part of a separate possible crime. McCorry Whatley reportedly did not tell police officers that his baby was in the car when he was arrested.

The baby's grandmother found the child and took her to the emergency room, where she was pronounced dead. The temperature in the area was over 80 degrees on May 5.

Selena explained, "She laughed and smiled since she was a month old. She talked to you in her baby language and answered you with noises when you said her name. I loved her more than I could ever imagine and my heart is breaking that she is gone so soon."
