Baby elephants: they're adorable, they're goofy, and they're clumsy as heck. And that's exactly why we love them so much. Here, we meet the cutest little guy who's managed to get himself stuck in a shallow watering hole, and all he wants to do is get back up on ground with his mom.
Elephants are also known for being some of the most intelligent and sensitive creatures in the animal kingdom, and so the mother wasn't about to leave without her precious baby safe and sound. Watch as Mama comes to her calf's aid, trying everything she can to hoist him out of the hole. As the rest of her herd begins to walk away, she uses her legs, knees, trunk — whatever it takes! You gotta give it to Mom for all the effort she puts in, because this is one slippery little calf!
And just when nothing seems to work, watch what happens when the herd returns and a more experienced member lends her a helping trunk.
I couldn't help but smile watching the happy baby stroll off with his family. That'll teach him to stay closer to Mom next time. 🙂
