Eighteen years ago, Kamiyah Mobley was taken from her mother at a Florida hospital and never seen again.
That is, until this year, when she began to suspect that the woman who raised her was not, in fact, her mother.
Kamiyah has spent the last 18 years growing up under a different name, after Gloria Williams allegedly snatched her out of her hospital bed in her mom's room while pretending to be a nurse.
Williams had apparently taken Kamiyah from her mother after approaching her, pretending to be a nurse for University Medical Center in 1998.
Despite all the searches nearly 20 years ago, Kamiyah was not found and remained missing for 18 years. While her family must have been devastated, they can thankfully rejoice now that she's been found!
A few months ago, cops received a tip that led to the discovery of Kamiyah. When they found her in South Carolina, they did a DNA test to confirm she was indeed the baby that had been kidnapped 18 years before. She had been living there her entire life, under the name Alexis Manigo.
Kamiyah was quickly put in contact with her biological grandmother, Velma Aiken, as well as her birth parents, Shanara Mobley and Craig Aiken, via FaceTime. Shortly after learning the news and the story broke everywhere, Kamiyah met with Shanara and Craig in person.
"We laughed, we chatted, we didn't allow any negative thoughts. We didn't talk about the kidnapping," Craig told Daily Mail." It's going to be hard for her to turn this into a positive. She's got very mixed emotions about the woman who raised her."
