Husband Goes Through Wife’s File Cabinet, Then Finds Letter He Wrote 40 Years Ago

Kris Bresnan kept a bit of a secret from her husband. However, the discovery was nothing less than touching. For the past 40 years, Bill has been writing his wife Kris a love letter every single day.

Kris insists that they're not all mushy.

“They weren’t all love letters. They were hilarious, very funny, cute — not all mushy mushy, all kinds,” she said.

Kris and Bill met in 1974 and have been in puppy love ever since. The couple even says they've never had a fight. Disagreements, of course, but never anything they couldn't sort out with a discussion.

“We kiss goodnight, and it’s like starting the next morning with a clean slate,” Bill said.

However, Bill had no idea Kris kept every single letter in a file cabinet, organizing them by date.

"All the letters are signed 'I love you, my darling' with an infinity sign," Kris told ABC News in 2015. "They're essentially a love diary. For example, I could pick out a day in 1982, and it’ll begin with the restaurant we ate in or a movie we saw, and then a reaction to that."

The 10,000 letters fill 25 boxes, and each sweet note tells the story of their timeless love.

“My biggest fear, and I guess this is human nature — as I get older, my biggest fear is the day I forget to give it to her,” he said.
