The thought of putting meat in a wooden box may seem a bit strange at first, but once you see what the process actually does, you'll wonder why you haven't made one of these biltong boxes before!
If you love beef jerky, you're going to love this "biltong" recipe from Suzelle. Biltong isn't your typical Slim Jim, it's a yummy kind of silverside beef jerky that has its roots in South Africa. Eaten as a snack or served in stews, you'll find that this jerky recipe is well worth the wait.
All you need is a silverside of beef, red wine vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, sea salt, coriander, and brown sugar to season and marinate the meat. Next, you'll need to create your biltong box. All you need is a wooden box from a craft store, a drill, aluminum foil, paper clips, a light bulb, and some mesh. After marinating the meat for a few hours, hang the beef strips in the biltong box using paper clips. Turn on the light bulb, close the door, and wait three days. Just like that, you've got yourself some South African beef jerky.
